Our policies on painting

Welcome to The Bare Bowl, a paint your own pottery studio. We are delighted to have you join us for a creative and enjoyable pottery painting experience. Before you begin, please read and understand our Painting Policy to ensure a smooth and delightful experience.

1. Payment Policy:

- All customers must pay for the pottery pieces they wish to paint. The price of each piece includes the use of studio supplies, paints, glazing, and firing.

- Payment is required in full when checking out.

2. Artistic Outcome:

- Please note that pottery painting is an art form, and results may vary based on individual artistic skills and techniques.

- While our staff is available to offer guidance and tips, we cannot guarantee the exact outcome or artistic vision of your finished piece.

- We encourage creativity and uniqueness in your designs, and imperfections are part of the charm of handmade pottery.

3. Breaks and Cracks:

- The pottery pieces provided in our studio are fragile, and accidents may happen.

- We are not responsible for any breaks or cracks that occur during the painting process or afterward, including during glazing and firing.

- If a piece breaks while in our studio, the customer will be responsible for the cost of the item.

4. Cleanup Responsibility:

- We ask all customers to take responsibility for cleaning their painting area after use.

- Please ensure that all brushes, paints, and other materials are returned to their designated places.

- Spills and messes should be promptly cleaned up to maintain a clean and safe environment for everyone.

5. Firing and Pickup:

- Once you have completed your painting, our staff will guide you through the glazing and firing process.

- The firing process takes time, and your finished piece will be ready for pickup after 2 weeks and will be available for 2 months.

6. Personal Belongings:

- Please take care of your personal belongings while at our studio. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

7. Liability Waiver:

- While we take all necessary precautions to provide a safe environment, participation in pottery painting involves inherent risks.

- By engaging in pottery painting at The Bare Bowl, you agree to release us from any liability for personal injury, damage, or loss that may occur during your visit.

8. Minors:

- Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult while painting in our studio.

9. Artwork Retention:

- We may retain photographs of completed artwork for promotional purposes, but we will not share personal information without your consent.

Our policies on using wheels (the studio)

Introduction

Welcome to Delaware Pottery Studios. We are excited to offer you access to our throwing wheels for creating beautiful pottery pieces. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, we have established this Throwing Wheel Policy. Please read and adhere to these guidelines while using the throwing wheels in our pottery studio.

1. Authorized Use:

- Only individuals who have received proper training and instruction on using the throwing wheels are permitted to operate them. This ensures the safety of both the users and the equipment.

- Users must be at least 13 years old or older to access the throwing wheels unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2. Safety Precautions:

- Before using a throwing wheel, users must familiarize themselves with the location of emergency shut-off switches and safety guidelines posted in the studio.

- All users are required to wear appropriate safety equipment, including aprons, and secure any loose clothing or accessories that may get caught in the spinning wheel.

- Long hair must be tied back, and users should avoid wearing loose jewelry while operating the throwing wheel.

3. Studio Etiquette:

- Users should maintain a clean and organized work area, including keeping all tools and supplies properly stored when not in use.

- Do not interrupt or distract others while they are working on the throwing wheel to prevent accidents.

- Respect the equipment and report any malfunction or damage to the studio staff immediately.

4. Proper Cleanup:

- After using a throwing wheel, users must clean up their work area, including removing any clay debris from the wheelhead and surrounding surfaces.

- Tools should be wiped clean and returned to their designated storage locations.

5. Clay Usage:

- Only approved clay purchased from our studio should be used on the throwing wheels.

- Users should avoid excessive waste by using an appropriate amount of clay for their intended projects.

6. Time Limits:

- To accommodate all users and promote fair access to the throwing wheels, we may implement time limits during peak hours.

- If others are waiting to use the throwing wheel, please be mindful of your usage time and allow others a chance to participate.

7. Respect for Studio Property:

- Any intentional damage to the throwing wheels or other studio equipment will result in the responsible party being held liable for repair or replacement costs.

- Do not alter or modify the throwing wheels without prior authorization from the studio staff.

8. Personal Belongings:

- Users are responsible for their personal belongings while using the throwing wheels. The studio is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

9. Liability Waiver:

Pottery Pick-up Policy - The Bare Bowl

Introduction

Thank you for choosing The Bare Bowl for your pottery experience. We are thrilled to have you create wonderful pottery pieces in our studio. This Pottery Pick-up Policy outlines the guidelines for picking up your completed items.

1. Pick-up Timeframe:

a. Pickups for The Bare Bowl Items:

- For pottery items created in our studio, they will be ready for pick-up after two weeks from the date of creation.

- Your completed pottery items will be available for pick-up for a total of two months from the date they become ready.

b. Pickups for Studio Items:

- For pottery items that were thrown on the wheel and glazed by our studio, they will be ready for pick-up after four weeks from the date of creation.

- Your completed studio pottery items will also be available for pick-up for a total of two months from the date they become ready.

c. Pickups for Items to Glaze:

- If you are returning to glaze your pottery item, it will be ready for glazing after three weeks from the date of creation.

- We will hold the unglazed item for you for one month, during which time you can come in to complete the glazing process.

- After the item is glazed, follow the timeframe from a.Pickups for The Bare Bowl Items

2. "Adopt a Pottery Piece" Charity Initiative:

a. After the two-month pick-up timeframe expires for all types of items, any unclaimed pottery items will be included in our "Adopt a Pottery Piece" initiative.

b. During the "Adopt a Pottery Piece" phase, customers will have the opportunity to purchase the unclaimed pottery items, and all proceeds from these sales will be donated to a charity of our choice.

3. Shipping Option:

a. If you are unable to pick up your completed pottery item or return to glaze it in person, we offer a shipping option.

b. You can choose to have your item shipped to your preferred address. Additional shipping charges will apply.

4. Notification:

a. We will notify you through the contact information provided when your pottery item is ready for pick-up, glazing, or shipping.

b. Please ensure your contact information is accurate and up-to-date to receive these notifications promptly.

5. Storage:

a. We will do our best to store your completed pottery item or unglazed item safely until the designated pick-up or glazing date.

b. However, after the one-month holding period for unglazed items or the two-month pick-up period for completed items, we cannot guarantee the storage of unclaimed items.

6. Responsibility:

a. We will make every effort to ensure the safe handling and storage of your pottery items until the designated pick-up or glazing date.

b. Once the pick-up or glazing period expires, we are no longer responsible for any damage or loss that may occur to unclaimed items.

7. Usage of Unglazed Items:

a. If unglazed items remain unclaimed after the one-month holding period, we reserve the right to use them as glazing examples or include them in the "Adopt a Pottery Piece" initiative after they have been fired.

1. Pick-up Timeframe:

a. Pickups for The Bare Bowl Items:

- For pottery items created in our studio, they will be ready for pick-up after two weeks from the date of creation.

- Your completed pottery items will be available for pick-up for a total of two months from the date they become ready.

Party Reservation Policy

Kids Parties:

1. Reservation Requirements:

- For kids' parties, there must be at least one adult present for every four children aged 10 years or younger. This ensures the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

2. Reservation Fee (for two hours):

- Parties of six or fewer painters have no reservation fee.

- For parties with 7-14 painters, a reservation fee of $30 will apply.

- For parties with 15-22 painters, a reservation fee of $60 will apply.

- For parties with 23-30 painters, a reservation fee of $90 will apply.

- Additional hours can be added at a cost of $1 per child per additional hour.

3. Additional Seating:

- Additional seating cannot be guaranteed for anyone not participating in the painting activity.

Kids Party Packs:

1. Basic Kids Party Pack (No additional charge):

- Painters can freely choose the pottery items they want to paint and will be charged upon completion at checkout.

2. Deluxe Kids Party Pack (Additional $5 per child):

- Painters can pick one item from the "party corner" to paint at no additional charge.

3. Ultimate Kids Party Pack (Additional $10 per child):

- Painters can pick two items to paint from the "party corner" or choose one item from a limited selection pulled from our shelves.

Adult Parties:

1. Reservation Fee (for two hours):

- Parties of six or fewer painters have no reservation fee.

- For parties with 7-14 painters, a reservation fee of $25 will apply.

- For parties with 15-22 painters, a reservation fee of $50 will apply.

- For parties with 23-30 painters, a reservation fee of $75 will apply.

- Additional hours can be added at a cost of $1 per person per additional hour.

Party on the Go:

1. Buy the Bisque Items and Mayco Glazes:

- Customers can purchase the bisque items and Mayco glazes for off-site painting.

2. Rent or Buy Additional Materials:

- Customers have the option to either rent or buy the brushes and other materials for their off-site painting.

3. Final Glazing and Firing:

- A fee will apply for us to put a final glaze on the painted items and fire them once they're returned, along with the rented materials.
